Biography:
I have ~ 20 years of experience teaching, providing care, and conducting research in tropical neuropsychiatry. I have focused my academic and research activities on the bio-psychosocial determinants of child neurodevelopment including maternal health, early child morbidities, and environmental exposures. In particular, I have spent the last years dissecting the mechanisms underlying neurodevelopmental deficits observed in children who rely on cyanogenic cassava as the main source of food. I have extensive experience conducting mental health related work in resource-limited settings while providing opportunities for real life and learning experiences, and career development to neurology residents and social scientists.
