Biography:
Dr Harel obtained her PhD from McGill University in 2014 and is currently an Associate Professor at NYU where she co-directs the Applied Statistics for Social Science Research Masters program. Her research focuses on measurement problems in situations where measurement is challenging. She uses an immersive approach to work with subject-area specialists to understand and formalize the problems they are most interested in solving, and provide the statistical and measurement tools necessary to solve these problems. Her methodological research has focused on measure development, analysis, and refinement. Dr Harel has developed approaches to the analysis of survey and patient-reported outcome data that minimize the potential statistical and practical impacts of model misspecification
