Biography:
My research focusses on child growth, health and development during the first 5 years of life in international contexts. I am an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Paediatrics at the University of Southampton and an Honorary Research Fellow in Women's and Reproductive Health at the University of Oxford. I have led the Infant Development Groups of the INTERGROWTH-21st Project and the INTERBIO-21st Study since 2012. Since 2015, I have been working clinically as a paediatrician at Southampton Children's Hospital (and affiliated hospitals) with special interest in neonatology and neonatal neurodevelopmental surveillance. I have research collaborations with 11 international groups across 13 countries, and have authored novel tools to measure child development at scale internationally - the INTER-NDA and the OX-NDA. My interests in child development extend to studying the effect of perinatal maternal health, including perinatal maternal mental health, on fetal and child growth and development.
