Biography:
I work at Maastricht University, where I co-lead the research line Neuroepidemiology at the School for Mental Health and Neuroscience and the Alzheimer Center Limburg at Maastricht University Medical Center+. Our mission is to help people grow old with good mental and brain health. To this end, we conduct population-based and clinical research into the aetiology and course of psychiatric and neurological disorders. Most studies focus on dementia, stroke and depression. We want to understand heterogeneity among individuals and population mixtures in order to develop new prevention strategies, with an emphasis on universal and selective prevention through lifestyle interventions.
